Panasonic today showed off its upcoming smartphone – it’s first for Europe – the Android-based Eluga. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but Panasonic has stated that the Eluga will be reaching shop selves some time next month.

With the Panasonic ELUGA, you can view your world in quarter high definition . Its 4.3″ (10.9 cm) capacitive OLED qHD screen – with a slender 123 × 62 × 7.8 mm frame – offers a resolution of 960 × 540 px and the largest display area ratio currently on the market.

This makes the pixel density so high that you’ll be unable to pick out an individual pixel. The ELUGA offers truly vivid colors, enhanced readability and outstanding sharpness as standard.

Compared to other phones with the same display size, the ELUGA has virtually no frame but an even better resolution. With a display area ratio of 66%, it offers the largest display area ratio currently on the market.

We received word from a reliable source at Foxconn in China that the iPhone 5, as it is currently being called, is now gearing for production. The source said various sample devices are also floating around (they vary slightly from one another), so it is impossible to tell which one will be the final.

Some things in common with all of them, however, are:

    – 4+ inch display (made by LG on at least one of them).
– Neither of the sample devices have the iPhone 4/4S form factor.
– Neither of the devices are the final versions.

We also heard the non-teardrop and 4-inch display information previously in a report from iLounge, but what is important to note here is that iPhone 4S production did not gear up until late spring of last year.

If we follow patterns and give a five month-ish lead time, it would appear that Apple is back on its new iPhone launch for summer/WWDC pattern that it maintained until last year.

Apple is expected to introduce an upgraded processor and graphics package for the iPad 3, with the assumption being that it would be called the A6 after the A4 initially appeared in the original iPad and iPhone 4 and was succeeded by the A5 in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

But if this photo is to be believed, that assumption appears to have been incorrect, with Apple instead having branded the upgraded package with the A5X name.

An “A5X” as a step-wise upgrade to the A5 corresponds with progression of processor part numbers as revealed by BGR in February. At the time the A4 was known to be the S5L8930X, the A5 as the S5L8940X and the new iPad processor as S5L8945X.

Apple shipped some 55 million iPads since first bringing the device to market. It took 22 years to sell that many Macs and three years to sell that many iPhones. What’s driving that hockey-stick ramp up, among the fastest of any product in history?
That question was put to Apple CEO Tim Cook at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference Tuesday, and he had an interesting answer for it. The iPad’s trajectory is driven by the products that came before it.
“The pace of innovation around iPad is absolutely incredible,” Cook said. “We’ve gone from iPad 1 to iPad 2 in very short order, and the eocsystem around it is clearly thriving. The reason the iPad’s ramp has been so large in my view is that the iPad has stood on the shoulders of everything that came before it — the iTunes store, the iPhone. People trained on these products so by the time the iPad launched it was intuitive to use. I gave one to my mother and she knew how to use it, like this, just from watching the commercial.”

The Facebook version takes advantages of Adobe Systems’ Flash Player 11 with support for 3D graphics included, offering “enhanced special effects like lighting, smoke and explosions running smoothly at 60 frames per second,” Adobe said in a statement.

The game, which is reportedly played by 130 million people daily, was expected to be available on Facebook last March. But Rovio CEO Peter Vesterbacka said Angry Birds would not be available on the social network until May–a target launch date the game developer missed by nine months.

The Apple iPad 3 is getting unveiled on Wednesday, March 7th, according to sources with a good track record quoted in the latest scoop coming from Rene Ritchie. Apple-focused blogger Jim Dalrymple confirms it, and it definitely seems like we finally have an iPad 3 announcement date that is matching or very close to reality.

The third-generation iPad will come with three major improvements. The one that most agree on is a high-res 2048×1536 Retina screen, the other two are very, very likely, but not completely certain – a quad-core Apple A6 SoC will probably be there, and 4G LTE support is probably also on board. An LTE iPad would be a good fit for Verizon and AT&T, but most other carriers globally don’t yet support the faster network technology.
